Free Open Source Software
Open Source UTM Firewall Appliance
What is Endian Firewall Community?
Endian Firewall Community is a "turn-key" linux security distribution that turns every system into a full featured security appliance with Unified Threat Management (UTM) functionality. The software has been de signed with "usability in mind" and is very easy to install, use and manage, without losing its flexibility. The features include a stateful packet inspection firewall, application-level proxies for various protocols (HTTP, FTP, POP3, SMTP) with antivirus support, virus and spamfiltering for email traffic (POP and SMTP), content filtering of Web traffic and a "hassle free" VPN solution (based on OpenVPN). The main advantage of Endian Firewall is that it is a pure "Open Source" solution that is sponsored by Endian.

OpenOffice.org

What is OpenOffice.org?
OpenOffice.org (OO.o or OOo), commonly known simply as OpenOffice, is a free cross-platform office application suite available for a number of different computer operating systems. It supports the ISO/IEC standard OpenDocument Format (ODF) for data interchange as its default file format, as well as Microsoft Office formats among others. As of November 2008[update], OpenOffice supports over 45 languages.
OpenOffice.org was originally derived from StarOffice, an office suite developed by StarDivision and acquired by Sun Microsystems in August 1999. The source code of the suite was released in July 2000 with the aim of reducing the dominant market share of Microsoft Office by providing a free and open alternative; later versions of StarOffice are based upon OpenOffice.org with additional proprietary components.
The project and software are informally referred to as OpenOffice, but this term is a trademark held by a company in the Netherlands co-founded by Wouter Hanegraaff and is also in use by Orange UK, requiring the project to adopt OpenOffice.org as its formal name.

Open Source SugarCRM
Better Way to Build and Distribute Software
In an industry dedicated to improving customer relationships (CRM), it is interesting that proprietary software vendors spend between 50-70% of revenues convincing customers to buy their product (sales and marketing) and less than 10% of revenues actually making better products (engineering).
We thought there was a better way. Why not write our product in public and distribute it through an open source license? Individuals and companies would be free to evaluate the product and engage with SugarCRM when they were ready for a commercial relationship. We could shorten the costly and time-consuming enterprise sales cycle while allocating more toward engineering (almost half our company is part of R&D). The model requires putting your product in front of your sales force, which means having a fast, intuitive application that is easy to learn, use and extend.
